Haunted Forest Tour: October 21, 2017

Twin Lakes Woods will come alive for one very magical, mystical night! Participants will walk the first half of the trail and then narrators will tell you the story of the haunted woods as they conduct guided tours on hayracks. Don’t turn your back, as characters, ghouls and creatures will come alive before your very eyes!  We will again offer our Merry Monsters Matinee (spooky) performance from 5:00- 6:30 pm for the younger children. 

Tickets sales will be from 4:30-9:00PM and tours will be ongoing so you may arrive at any time.  Due to the popularity of the event, there may be a short wait.

Note: please park along 59th St., Twin Lakes Learning Center.


Halloween Fun Fair: October 31, 2016 | 4:30pm - 7:00pm FREE EVENT!
Location: Westmont Community Center

Calling creepy monsters, ghouls, pirates and fairies to come out and join the nightmare of the night at the Westmont Community Center. There will be lots of laughter trying your luck at carnival games while you earn great prizes. Register to win a special prize right after the “Parade of Costumes.” Then, children and adults alike will be under a spell when they watch the hocus pocus magic of “Horrible Harry.” This Zombie will have you mystified and speechless with all the tricks he has up his sleeve! You may even become part of the show! No time for dinner?  No worries! We have a Monster Menu available that you can sink your fangs into. Join in the fun, and you’ll be sure to scream about having a good time!

Halloween is a holiday celebrated by activities such as trick-or-treating, costumes, ghost stories and
jack-o-lanterns.  Now we can add dancing and fun to that list of activities.  Come to the Westmont Community Center on Halloween with your friends and show off your costume and dance moves.  We will be having a costume contest for best dressed and most creative for the chance to win prizes.  There is no better way to celebrate Halloween than with a dance, fun and prizes. This event is held in the Westmont Community Center gym.

 

The Last Straw Fall Event: October 2, 2016 | 12:00p - 4:00p

  • make a scarecrow (nominal fee)             
  • meet a bee keeper
  • see an awesome reptile/frog program
  • learn about bunnies, chickens and cows
  • pan for gold or minerals (nominal fee)
  • enjoy music fun with Tim Wilsey
  • create some cool crafts, make rope
  •  play some fun games
  • Treat yourself to some home-made goodies at the bake sale
  • pumpkin decorating (sponsored by Westmont  Chamber of Commerce)

For an $8 fee per family, The Garden Club of Downers Grove will help you make a great scarecrow for your yard. Fee includes pillow case for the head, straw, wire, a wood stand, hay and some materials.  Please bring clothes (pants, shirt) and any unique items you’d like to use to decorate your scarecrow. Items should be environmentally friendly (no perishable goods) and weather resistant.  We have some extra clothes on hand to share. Event will be held rain or shine!
